    Hey MP,

    I’ve slogged through the tryout process for my local club team, and now all that remains is the final tryout on the 21st. Does anyone have tips for maximizing physical (and mental) readiness in the next two weeks?

    I’ve built a strong base by completing program 1 and triphasic 1. I’ve also completed agility zero and am about halfway through an eight week conditioning program.

    Is it even worth trying to complete the conditioning at this point? Or should I start tapering?

    The work is done. You should taper.

    Now is about finding relaxation in the tissues and the ability to tune them up into fast twitch muscle grabbing machines quickly. That will take some oscillatory work and like a bit of massage and other recovery strategies. Lift wise… moderate (70-80%) loads moved as fast as possible. Get your nervous system tuned up and time it well so you can show up to try outs ready to blast off.

    Don’t forget skills that you need to tune up as well. Drill specific and intentional.
