Hi MP,
I’m brand new to the program and super excited to be a part of it. It seems like there are a ton of great resources, but I’m a little bit overwhelmed and unsure of where to begin. Should I watch the Modules? Begin training with Program Zero? Both?
I’m coming off the club season and looking to train better this off-season. I suppose I’d like to peak for next year’s series, but I’d also like to have a great base going into spring tryouts. What would you all recommend to get started?
Thanks!

Welcome to MP family.
A great place to start is Program.Zero, then progressively build through Program.One.
If you have time, you can do Ladder.Zero alongside Program.Zero, otherwise just do it sequentially. Follow up with Agility.Zero
You can overlap certain programs like Program.Zero and Ladder.Zero if that is the only physical activity you will be doing. However, I would advise putting full attention to each program if possible.
From here on, i think you get a small gist of how the programs build on top of each other.
I personally would advise taking some time to watch the previous MP lecture products because the fundamental concepts are crucial to making the most out of the programs.
Glad to have you around, i’m the resident forum lurker and love to answer as much as I am confidently able to 🙂

ZiOctober 20, 2017 at 5:09 PM #3992AJBeviParticipantHi all,
I just joined MP and am looking to start Program Zero next week. From my understanding, does this program have you in the gym 2 days a week and doing the same workouts 3 weeks in a row at a time? Is there anything suggested to do in addition to starting Program Zero?
To give some background, I’m 27 and have been playing ultimate and lifting for 10 years. I’m really trying to put a big effort into athleticism, conditioning, and speed this off-season and looking to peak for tryouts around May. I work a regular 9-5 and have time built in to workout 4-6 times a week.
Any helpful information is greatly appreciated. Really excited to get started.
October 21, 2017 at 12:41 AM #3993TimKeymasterAJ, welcome to the jam fam!
Give us a bit more info regarding your peak so we can decide if we want to layer in any additional programming from any of the other Portals or if we want to stick to only SP…
How long is your off-season and when do you plan to “peak”?
What position do you play?
Would you prefer to train in the gym 2 x or 3 x per week? (I ask because we have a program zero 3 x per week version launching soon….)
October 23, 2017 at 3:44 PM #3996AJBeviParticipantHi Tim,
My offseason will be about 6 months long. I would like to peak at the beginning of May for Boston area tryouts. I’m a handler that usually plays on the D line.
I think I would prefer to be in the gym 3x per week but am okay with 2x per week if I can add on some out-of-gym workouts for another 2x per week. I really like following in-depth programs, and I have trouble motivating anything other than rolling/stretching/yoga on other days if it isn’t in a program.
I’ve made the time to fully commit to working out this offseason after a less-than-stellar club season this past summer.
October 23, 2017 at 4:30 PM #3999TimKeymasterAJ be sure to go through Phase 0 so you can understand these basic patterns / cues that will be coming up again and again and again throughout the course of all programs from SA.Zero, One, Two through SP.Zero, One, Two, Triphasic. One, Two and all conditioning.
Just practice them a bit before your first lift then remind yourself to use them as you move forward.
Program.Zero is a SP development program therefore you will need to move significant load and your body will need time to recover. Therefore 2-3 x per week in the gym is enough. Hopefully Program.Zero 3 x a week will be up soon so you can have that option… for now if you feel recovered you can repeat the first or second workout to make for a 3 x a week program.
If you don’t have to peak til July you may want to save SA. However, you can never get too good at the SA Skills… so if you are up for it, get out there and run the workouts. If you can get through SA.Zero,One and Two before July along with SP.Zero and SP.One you will be a monster at tryouts!
Conditioning you can save til next year unless you are in need of some aerobic development you can stay focused on SP and SA skills for the next few months.
March 25, 2018 at 10:26 PM #4348Arina ApetyanParticipantHi!
I’ve just registered and I’m super excited about it!
I have a newbie question regarding Program.Zero 🙂 For now I should probably just take a closer look at the fundamentals and concentrate on technique, but when I feel like I’m ready to start with Phase 1, how will I know what weights to use? Thanks!
March 27, 2018 at 8:17 AM #4349TimKeymasterWelcome Arina!
To answer your question. Can you tell us a bit about your weight training history…
Is this your first time doing a strength and power program or have you had experience lifting in the past?
March 27, 2018 at 9:18 AM #4350Arina ApetyanParticipantWell, I did some lifting occasionally, but I don’t know if those are the weights I should be working with… The variety of the exercises I did is pretty small, but here are some examples: dead lift and back squat – both 30 kg, bench press – 15 kg, smth like that.
March 27, 2018 at 8:38 PM #4351TimKeymasterIn order to get adaptation your have to push your strength so you want to select a weight that you can perform the exercises with good MQ – movement quality. The last rep should be difficult but you shouldn’t break form. Aim to increase by 5-10 lbs on most lifts each week until you move into the next phases… when reps decrease, there is your opportunity to increase the intensity (weights) …
I can’t give you exact weights to start with but you are welcome to submit videos and we can have a look and guide you 🙂
March 27, 2018 at 9:57 PM #4353Arina ApetyanParticipantOkay! Thank you for the detailed answer 🙂
