    Hey guys,

So my brother and I are currently doing Program One. We are in phase two, hypertrophy. One of the exercises, hanging leg raise bent leg, we do not have the equipment available to do properly. We work out in a low ceiling basement and the pull-up bar we use for chin-ups and pull-ups comes up to our chins, a little under six feet tall.

We have up to now tried to hold a pull-up and preform the exercise, but the bar is still to low to do that properly. Is there some creative way you can think of that we can correctly do this exercise, or is there a different progression that we could implement into our workouts?

    Thanks

    Hey Nathaniel,

A few other ideas I can think of if you haven’t tried:
    1) Buy TRX or Gymnastics rings, find a place to hang them up somewhere else, outside maybe, or a find a ledge (stairwell?)
    2) Do the regressed version: Supine hip flexion with resistance
    3) Long shot but… Two anchors across some floor space, one anchor with resistance bands and the other anchor for you to grab on. The resistance bands goes over each foot individually and you flex your hips.

I like this question cause I have a home gym and some things I have to design or make on my own 🙂

    Hey Zi,

    Thanks for the reply!

That stairwell idea might work, I never thought of using that space before. It might be a little awkward but I will see if I can work something out there. I think that we actually have some gymnastic rings, so I just have to anchor them somehow.

My brother and I have had to come up with a couple of original ideas about how to work with the gym space we have. This one just had me particularly stuck, so thanks for the ideas here.
